The True Sanhedrin vs. The Many False \"Sanhedrins\" – A Danger to Torah and Truth Part 1

B"H

Introduction

The True Sanhedrin and Its Authority

The Sanhedrin was the supreme Jewish court of 71 ordained judges, tracing its authority back to Moshe Rabbeinu. It ruled on halacha, Torah law, and national matters from the Beit HaMikdash in Yerushalayim. It had absolute halachic and judicial authority and was recognized by all of Klal Yisrael.

However, the real Sanhedrin ceased to exist over 1,500 years ago. Despite attempts to restore it, no group has succeeded in reinstating its legitimacy—because it requires a halachic foundation, rabbinic consensus, and national recognition.

The Problem: The Self-Appointed "Nascent Sanhedrin"

In 2004, a group of well-meaning rabbis declared themselves the Nascent Sanhedrin, claiming to revive the ancient institution. With a pure heart, this group knowledgeable group lacking halachic authority, but they have seemed to managed accidently (in my opinion not purposely) mislead many—especially non-Jews (traditional Christians and Muslims), Reform Jews, Hebrew Roots groups, and conspiracy theorists.

They have

Misused Jewish symbols (e.g., the Trump-Cyrus Coin).

Made political claims about Noahide Laws and world governance.

Fueled false prophecies in Christian and Hebrew Roots circles.

Spread confusion about Jewish law and authority.

In this lecture, we will expose:

1. Why the Nascent Sanhedrin is NOT a legitimate halachic body.

2. How their claims mislead the Jewish and non-Jewish world.

3 .How Christian and Hebrew Roots groups twist their words into false prophecies.

4. How their actions fuel anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

What the real halachic process for restoring the Sanhedrin looks like.

Part 1: Why the Nascent Sanhedrin is NOT Legitimate

1. Lack of Classical Semichah (Rabbinic Ordination)

The Sanhedrin requires judges with semichah from Moshe Rabbeinu (Mishneh Torah, Hilchot Sanhedrin 4:1).

This semichah was broken in the 5th century CE.

No one today has the unbroken chain of semichah.

The Rambam (Hilchot Sanhedrin 4:11) suggested a theoretical way to reinstate it, but no major halachic authority has ever accepted this method.

2. No Recognition from Torah Authorities

The real Sanhedrin was universally accepted by all halachic authorities.

The Nascent Sanhedrin has no recognition from major poskim, including:

Haredi, Hasidic, Sephardic, or Modern Orthodox rabbinic leaders.

No endorsement from leading halachic authorities in Israel or the diaspora.

3. No Governmental or Religious Power

The original Sanhedrin had full national jurisdiction.

The Nascent Sanhedrin has no power under Israeli law.

Even within religious circles, their rulings mean nothing.

4. Failed Past Attempts to Restore the Sanhedrin

Rabbi Yosef Karo's attempt in Tzfat (1500s) – failed due to lack of universal recognition.

Modern Zionist attempts (20th century) – failed because Jewish law requires national acceptance.

Why? Because a true Sanhedrin cannot exist without full Jewish acceptance and halachic foundations.

Part 2: Misuse of Symbols and Political Involvement

1. 2017 Trump Coin and the Cyrus Comparison

The Nascent Sanhedrin minted a Trump-Cyrus "Temple Coin."

They falsely compared Trump to Cyrus the Great, implying he was “chosen” by Hashem.

They sent Trump a letter inviting him to discuss a global religious court based on the Noahide Laws.

2. Why This Is Dangerous

The idea of a Jewish religious court ruling the world fuels anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Christians and Hebrew Roots groups twist this into false prophecies about the “Third Temple” and “End Times.”

Many Reform and secular Jews mistakenly believe this group is legitimate.

Part 3: How False Sanhedrin Claims Fuel Conspiracy Theories

1. Christian & Hebrew Roots Distortions

Many Christians believe the Sanhedrin will “recognize” their messiah.

Hebrew Roots groups claim the "Sanhedrin" is working on rebuilding the Temple.

Some falsely claim the Nascent Sanhedrin has secret control over Israel.

2. The Dangerous Noahide Conspiracy

Anti-Semites claim Jews want to enforce Noahide Laws worldwide.

The Nascent Sanhedrin feeds into this by proposing a “Universal Noahide Court.”

This leads to fear-mongering about Jews executing non-Jews—a complete lie.

3. Confusing Reform, Secular, and Non-Jews

Observant Jews immediately recognize this fraud.

Reform and secular Jews may not know better and assume this is real.

Non-Jews, especially Christian Zionists and Noahides, are easily misled.
